Jagyeokru - Water Clock
Note: this is part of my series in exploration, reflections and translations of the Korean Secret of the Kingdom Oracle deck.
Reflections:
When I see this card, the words that come to me are: Beauty, Fine-tuning, time, warmth, comfort, security. This feels like a prosperous time where comfort and security can be derived (or acquired) through skillful practices, tradition and the skillful expansion of tradition. This is where tradition meets advancement, but not for the sake of advancing alone. There is a deep level of reverence and appreciation for this work, which leads to a beautiful refinement without the pressure of productivity or advancement or proving itself.
There is also a practicality, an earthiness to this card. The work is grounded in meaning and contribution. It is where thought and action come together.
This card reminds me of the timeless skills and knowledge that keep our society alive (plumbing, electrical, construction) mixed with the lost arts of seasonal creation, ritual and tradition.
The mood is craftsmanship, refined.
There is an element of working with your hands, but also an element of ether, of spirit, of beauty and newness. It’s calling us into distillation, and reminding us not to forget the power of artistry.
Note: In this card there are two types of time: timekeeping as we know it today (hours/minutes) and seasons. It’s very much tied to agriculture and the success of society by staying in tune.
There is a feeling of fortune — not superfluous, but of true comfort.
Translation:
Your time is now. The support you need is available for you to contribute meaningfully and to be comfortable (secure). Humanity is in some way aligning to what you are here to do. This is not a time for theory, but a time of blending artistry with craftsmanship. It is a time of fine-tuning, of introducing beauty to the practicality of what you are creating, yet to remain rooted in the work itself. Seek the bigger picture — find where what you are doing results in greater impact.
This card is an invitation to act on behalf of a bigger cause. W
here does your purpose meet something greater (community, humanity, nature, society, etc)?
Where can you refine and meet the next level of greatness in your work?
Where can you be less mechanical and more intuitive?
Where can you surrender to your craft, even more?
How can you spread the word and who (of influence) can help you?
Note: Your work is already meaningful. You are already contributing to a bigger picture.
